Green Commitment (Net Zero by 2050)

What is net zero by 2050?

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Business and Energy Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng on (Friday 28 May, 2021) called on every small business in the UK to take small, practical steps to cut their emissions as part of the UK’s journey to net zero by 2050, in the run up to UN Climate Summit COP26 in Glasgow this November.

Together they launched the Together for our Planet ‘Business Climate Leaders’ campaign, a new drive to encourage small and micro businesses to commit to cutting their emissions in half by 2030 and to net zero by 2050 or sooner through the new UK Business Climate Hub.

What are we aiming for?

We are aiming to take the governments guidelines and supercharge them. As a company we are looking to have reduced our 2021 emissions by 50% by 2025 and continue to achieve net zero by 2030.

What are we doing?

Currently we have put in place a number of measures, to reduce our carbon footprint as a business to 50% less than it was in 2021 (1 year ahead of schedule). We have invested in electric cars, and changed our electric supplier to one which only deals with sustainable sources such as solar and wind. However we haven't stopped there we have also invested in an electric fork lift for our warehouse and all lights in our showroom and offices are energy saving LED's.

Why is it so important?

Reducing our carbon footprint is something that is on everyone's minds we are no different. With climate change being a very real threat to all of us and our daily lives we want to make sure we are not part of the problem. Instead we want to help lead the way in becoming completely carbon neutral as soon as possible
